A succession of genetically related strata bounded on top and base by unconformites and/or their correlative conformities (Vail et al., 1977). A sequence thus correspond to a succession of genetically linked deposition systems (systems tracts), and covers a time lapse of 1 to 10 My. it corresponds to 3rd order sequences.
